A Business Dedicated to My Daughters

It began with a vision of inspiring my daughters through how I choose to live. We were driving our first daughter, Avani Rae, home from the hospital for the first time when I was hit with a wave of desire to live a life that would instill in my daughter the values of kindness, bravery, boldness, and creativity. After over a decade of teaching fine art in public school, and the birth of my second daughter, Amaya Taylor, I made the leap to open my own business: Taylor & Rae Studio.

By opening this studio on our property, I want my daughters to witness their mom taking risks, learning from failure, and persisting through challenges. I want my daughters to witness and appreciate diverse thinking, different perspectives, and  life stories. I want my daughters to witness kindness, boldness, bravery, and creativity and see how a community can come together to inspire, connect and create.

Artist & Owner

Joya now works as an artist, educator, and event coordinator at Taylor & Rae Studio. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design as well as a Master of Education from Concordia University.  As a high school art teacher, she loved teaching a variety of classes involving print-making, silk-screening, drawing, painting, mixed media, and ceramics. She believes that "teaching art empowers individuals to express their personal experiences and also builds community." As an artist, Joya works as a painter and is passionate about interior design and home styling.  She has a wide range of home renovation experiences such as working with her husband to renovate two of their own homes, consulting with clients on kitchen remodeling, building and refinishing furniture, working with construction teams on overseas mission projects and helping to design an event space for Trinity Church in Bolton.  "I'm well-acquainted with the messy, risky, fun, creative process and am excited to bring my diverse experiences together through the development of this small business.

Taylor & Rae Studio unites my passion for creativity and community."
